Drapes flapping in the wind
Halloween ghosts running down the street

An accident while cutting with a knife
Deep red leaves falling

A drunk of the curb drinking whiskey
Another drop of water from the ceiling

A quiet night at home alone
The padded walls of an asylum

Birds flapping their wings
Flipping through the pages of a new book

Nails on a blackboard
Static from a guitar amp

Rainfall on a tin roof
Dropping a box of nails

A prostitute on the street corner
Strawberry tarts for sale

Cut to black in the movies
A power outage in the neighbourhood

Stamping on an empty pop can
A car crash

Author's Comments

The African Bantu tribe developed an oral tradition where they would compare one thing to something else that is different in two line poems.

One person would speak an image line and another person would answer.

See the comparisons.
